36x24 acrylic ink on wood panel

This piece illustrates how Monique Belitz processes her emotions through her work. Most times you wouldn't know to look at them, but these attractive and intriguing paintings are often inspired by deep conflict and reconciliation. After several stressfull interactions with condescending men in the neighborhood, Belitz took to painting "Actions Speak Louder than Words." The women, shown much larger than the men, are working as the men look up trying to direct, instruct and explain.  There are stories in every inch of these paintings. Belitz seamlessly incorporates her Dutch folk telling heritage and her love for the Southwest in her work. They are at once traditional and contemporary in content and execution. These pieces are wonderful for children and adults to explore together and are certain to be family heirlooms.
